Transitioning from one role to another in a company can be daunting, but Monica has turned this challenge into an inspiring success story. Starting as a data entry accountant, she has transformed her career into something truly remarkable.
Today, she’s breaking records as a top recruiter, setting new standards for monthly driver hires and proving that with determination and adaptability, anything is possible.
In 2023, Monica won the “Discovery of the Year” award, recognizing her incredible talent for recruiting—a skill she’s discovered and mastered in her time with us.
1. With what kind of experience did you come to the company and did it help you fit in faster?
Coming into Superior with no experience in the trucking industry was definitely a learning curve. At first, I felt a bit overwhelmed by the new jargon and all new processes. But with time, patience, and a willingness to learn, I quickly found my footing. The supportive atmosphere and helpful colleagues made the transition much smoother than I expected. Once I got a grasp of the industry, I felt right at home and started to thrive in my role.
2. Who is your hero and why?
Myself. I believe that everyone has the potential to achieve great things, and it’s up to us to believe in ourselves and pursue our dreams with passion and determination. Overcoming challenges and reaching my goals has given me a sense of accomplishment and self-belief that I carry with me every day.
3. What is your position at Superior?
I’m currently a Recruiter at Superior. It’s a role that I love because it allows me to bridge the gap between our clients’ needs and all the expert prospects in a way that we all benefit from each other. While I started my journey here as a Data Entry Specialist in the accounting department, the company’s commitment to employee development quickly recognized my potential in recruiting. It’s been a fantastic opportunity to leverage my skills and contribute to the growth of the company and all of our clients.
4. What is your main weapon when recruiting?
My main weapon when recruiting is my positive energy. I believe that it’s crucial when building strong relationships with candidates. By creating a welcoming and supportive environment, I’m able to connect with people on a personal level and understand their career aspirations. This approach has been particularly effective for candidates to feel valued and appreciated, so it’s easier to establish trust and bring them closer to the client that fits them best.
5. What advice would you give someone who just started recruiting?
If you are just starting out in recruiting, I would say: stay positive and embrace the constant evolution of the industry. Recruiting is a dynamic field that requires continuous learning and adaptation. It’s important to love what you do and be passionate about helping others find their dream jobs. Positivity can help you navigate stressful times and maintain a strong focus on your goals.
6. What is one accomplishment you’re particularly proud of since you joined Superior?
One of my proudest moments since joining Superior was receiving the “Discovery of the Year” award at our Christmas party. Transitioning from the accounting department to recruiting was a big leap for me, so winning that award felt like validation—not just from the company, but also for myself. It was a moment where I realized how far I’ve come and how much I’ve grown, both personally and professionally.
7. Give us a timeline of your tenure here. How do you see yourself growing with and within the company?
I’ve been with Superior since early 2022, starting as a Data Entry Specialist in the accounting department. Recognizing my potential, the company supported my transition into recruiting, where I’ve thrived and contributed significantly. I’m excited about the opportunities for professional growth that Superior offers and look forward to contributing even further to the company’s success.
8. What do your colleagues think of you?
I believe my colleagues appreciate my professionalism, dedication, and positive attitude. I always strive to set a good example and create a supportive and collaborative work environment. But apart from all this everybody thinks I’m super loud and the funny thing is I agree with them. (I’m really sorry🙂)
9. What’s one outstanding experience that shaped you to be the person that you are today?
I’ve had a lot of different experiences in countries like Switzerland, Dubai, and India, and I’m grateful for that chance to live my life in such diverse places. But what I’m even more grateful for is finding a job I love in my own country. It means a lot to me that I don’t have to live far away from my family and friends to live well and be well paid for the effort I put in.
